 dear friend,
first off, i want you to know what a joy it is to finally surface from this mindless pop-infiltrated haze ive been speed-smoking in for the past few months, and discover an awesome song like this. its like cold water in the face. its like coming home to a familiar place after being away for so long. and i feel like ive been away for years. opening with a bleak and yet upbeat guitar solo, hearing it brought back memories when it was just you and me. you know me, suspicious of all states of sustained happiness. i know we havent talked for a while. my fault. but i really miss you and me. "oh youth, youre wasted on the young" he sings. the old me would have called it intellectual posturing, but i understand now. im sad that i understand. hearing it made me wish i was somewhere else, somewhere vast and deserted, where the time and the world seem endless, and i feel this small. i hope life is treating you well.
